he
goal of the Department of Information
Systems is to teach students to exploit computers and
technology for business gain. Students will learn how to
identify and understand business problems and then determine
how computers and associated information technology can
be used to solve the problems. Students in this discipline
learn to speak the language of both computers and business.
Students in Information Systems gain experience with computer
software, hardware, and associated information systems along
with an understanding of how to communicate with computer
science people as well as the business users.
Information Systems students tend to be people who like
working with computers but do not want to be computer programmers
and would prefer to be working with the business users in
an organization. At the University of Indianapolis, students
can concentrate in different areas of information systems
such as e-Business, Web design, Cisco networking and accounting
information systems.
